Taxes and Fees
Boat Launch Ramp
- Residents: Use of the Town Marina boat ramp is free for all Wachapreague taxpayers displaying a town plate or decal on the towing vehicle.
- Non-Resident, Owns Property: Sticker purchased at Town Hall $10
- Non-Property Owner, Yearly Pass: Sticker purchased at Town Hall $30
- Visitor Daily Ramp Fee: $5 per launch
Real estate taxes are assessed at $0.13 per $100 of assessed value. It is due annually for current calendar year on December 5, late fee is added after due date.
The Town of Wachapreague does not charge taxes on personal property. Taxes are charged on personal property registered in Accomack County.
An annual Town Plate or Sticker, for all vehicles personally owned, is on sale at Town Hall starting March 15 – April 15. Town Hall is open on Saturdays during that time from 9 am to noon for purchase of decals or plates and golf cart inspections.
Car Decal or Plate: $27
Utility trailer: $8
An annual golf cart inspection and sticker is needed on all golf carts.
Fee, inspection and proof of insurance per golf cart: $10.
Each business must obtain an annual business license by January 1 of each year. The fee is $30 and if any taxes are in the rear a business license will not be sold.
Transient Occupancy Tax
Those who provide lodging must submit quarterly payments of 2% of gross receipts.
Payment of Taxes
All stickers, licenses and other town business is conducted by mail or in person at the Town Hall. Payment may be made with cash or personal checks. Credit cards are not accepted. Checks should be made out to "Town of Wachapreague".
